PHP Code

March 4th, 2011

Hypertext Preprocessor or normally called as PHP is initially developed for web page development to create web content that is dynamic. It is a general-purpose kind of scripting language. PHP code is usually embedded into HTML source code together with other scripting languages. A web server is usually embedded by a PHP processor module which interprets the code and that produces a web page.

PHP is considered as a self service interpreter for some operating system and a processor for current web servers. Since it is considered as general-purpose kind of programming language, the PHP code is usually processed an interpreter in a command line form in order to perform the desired operation for the operating system and to create scripting programs to its standard channel.

PHP is a freeware kind of software that is developed 1995 by Rasmus Lerdorf. The name PHP is initially stands for as persona home page. He first created the code to produce his personal website and to replace some codes of Perl Scripts which was been the programming language he uses to create the web pages. The Code is written in C language format. The code is used to show his resume on the web and to record the traffics for his site. His first PHP code can already communicate with his created database which enables a simple a web function. Lerdorf and company are still continuing to develop the programs for a greater use. Since the first PHP code is only running in the C language program, Lerdorf developed the code and created the PHP version 2 which the basic functions are the same as of today’s PHP coding.

There are more versions produced after the creation of version 2. Lots of Web Company and developers are interested in this kind of scripting so they were able to produce more enhanced PHP code versions.

What is PHP Hosting?

March 2nd, 2011

PHP stands for Hypertext Preprocessor was originally designed to create a more dynamic and interactive web pages. It is an object oriented language commonly used by programmers and web developers. It comes with a relational database application called MySQL, which is an open source known for its reliability, accuracy and flexibility. PHP is great for beginners because of its user friendly features that can be easily understood and applied.

PHP Hosting uses PHP programming language and is completely free the commands are written in HTML and are done on the server side. If you are very new in the programming industry and you don’t have any experience at all PHP is a great way to start with.

PHP has gained much popularity because of some noted advantages. Most of its components are available for free, finding answers to programming queries and quick tutorials on web page building can be easily accessible in the net. It can be embedded directly to HTML coding and can be used to all major operating systems such as Linux, Microsoft Windows, RISC OS and Mac OS X and probably has supported a lot of web servers today including Apache, Microsoft Internet Information System, Personal Web Server among others. In terms of cost PHP is one of the most reasonably prized hosting solutions available in the market as it is an open source technology.

It is a common knowledge that most customers of web hosting companies prefer to work with the latest and the most advanced tools and techniques for hosting.

Introduction to PHP – A Popular Programming Language

February 26th, 2011

PHP is an acronym for Personal Home Page or Hyper Text Pre-processor. So from this you can understand that, this is some thing to do with web development. Yes, you’re right! PHP is a scripting language and usually embedded with the HTML (Hyper Text Mark-up Language).

PHP was developed by The PHP group and was designed by Rasmus Lerdorf in the year 1995; PHP2.0 was released in the year 1997. A PHP file usually has .php extensions. Rasmus Lerdorf designed PHP to handle usage logging and to create server side forms, later he developed it for large web based projects.

PHP was mainly designed in order to provide the dynamic web pages and it mainly focuses on the server side scripting. When the PHP code is given as an input to the web server it gives HTML content as the output.

PHP runs almost on any web servers and it is free software. It is also easy to implement and use, the code is in the human readable form. These make an advantage to PHP. This scripting language not just focuses on server side scripting but also executes the scripts and is used to generate the graphic user interface (GUI) on client side.PHP is an ideal tool for search engines. PHP with MySQL can be used to access any type of data. Since the PHP has quite a number of extensions it helps in easy data interaction.

Some of the main advantages of PHP are such as; it can be operated in cross platforms, it can run on almost all the servers, rich text processing, and compatible with large number of database. PHP is easy to use; you just need to know the basics of programming and knowledge on C language.

Tips for Learning Simple PHP

February 24th, 2011

When you are trying to learn a new programming language like PHP, it can get a bit intimidating, especially if you have never had experience with other programming languages before. But trust me, the toughest hurdle is really the starting point. Once you have gotten over that, it is really just a matter of keeping your focus and practicing. Be patient and learn the steps one at a time and you will get there. Here are some tips to help you learn simple PHP:

Learn the basics.

To learn a new language, specifically a programming language, you will need to have basic computer skills. Before you can learn PHP, you need to have a basic background on HTML. This is necessary to make PHP easier to grasp. Plus, you can alternate between the two later on using the same document.

PHP is a language that uses scripting and often used with HTML to supplement functions that HTML lacks. With PHP, you can collect and process data, make comparisons and calculations things that you can not do with HTML. Using this skill, you can create other functions to produce data that is more specialized.

Get the tools.

To create PHP pages, you will need a text editor. A plain text editor is a program that lets you edit files in plain text. These are the ones that come with extensions such as. php, .cgi, .html, etc. These types of text editors will not save formatting on the file, only the plain text. If you have been using a text editing program for your HTML file, that will do. you will probably use either Notepad (for Windows) or Text Edit (for Mac).

Get an FTP.

A File Transfer Protocol or FTP is used to exchange files from your computer to a remote server. This is the one we use to connect on a LAN or to an Internet site.

Get busy.

Once you have the right tools, you will have to practice creating files using PHP. There are some very important stuff that you will need to learn, including basic mathematics and IF statements and using variables. you will have to go through these first before you can hope to build a reliable PHP file.

Once you know your way around these skills, you can then start learning about loops. Loops are just your basic true or false statements that will perform repetitive actions again and again until certain conditions are met. After mastering the loops, you can then learn how to write your very own functions. Once you have learned how to manipulate the codes to create your desired result, there is virtually no limit to what you can do.

PHP Versus Dot Net

February 17th, 2011

One of the most confusing decisions that IT policy makers of companies come across is which way to go .NET or PHP. Both have their merits and limitations. Deciding one is entirely dependant upon your budget, technical skills, requirements and your overall corporate methodology.

PHP is the most popular open source programming language used to build web-sites that rely upon dynamic content. PHP is free and so are almost all of its supporting tools, platforms, databases and even OS. Being Open Source it got good support, code snippets and helps at various on-line open source forums. It even got Zend optimizer which compiles the code and makes code much faster and hence making it almost equivalent to other compiled web programming options. It is fairly easy to get a PHP programmer and many of the times if you have budget constraints, you can get freelancers with excellent skills in PHP.

.NET is really a framework, that consist of a framework with support of various programming languages e.g. C#, ASP.NET, VB.NET etc. Like many good things except air, water, sun nothing is free in the world and so is .NET However it does come up with excellent support from Microsoft, provides excellent help documentation, has excellent professionals (though none of them are cheap) to sort out any issues. Also since it is a complete framework it is used for things way above than building simple web-sites.

So, in summary if you have limited IT budget and your requirement is to build a site or some other similar web based applications, then PHP may be a better choice. However if you have some budget and your requirement goes further beyond a simple web-site, and you are looking for some great dedicated support and dependency upon more solid programmers, .NET is the way to go.

Which is a Better Web Programming Language?

February 11th, 2011

There are several languages that are used for internet programming and web designing, but there are two that are being used extensively and are considered to be very effective on all aspects – the.Net framework and PHP. It can be a little complicated when it comes to comparing or deciding on which language to implement.

Data integration, swapping information, adding enhancements, maintenance and security are the most common clients’ requirements these days. Both these programming languages are known for their effectiveness in these areas. However, there are quite a few dissimilarities which can help you choose between the two.

Here are a few distinctive features of ASP.NET and PHP

Cost for Design and Development

PHP is an open source programming language which is available for free downloads. ASP.NET follows an entirely different rule. It only runs in specific windows operating systems. It also requires additional programs like Dreamweaver and Visual Studio for development and implementation. This not only toughens the work of a programmer, but also increases cost when compared to programming in PHP.

Efficiency and Effectiveness

Hyper Text Pre-processor is an interpreted language. The code directly gets executed each time you run it. ASP.NET on the other hand, is an optimization and compilation language. Here, each time the program is written it undergoes a compilation process and then gets executed. It is known that compiled applications run faster but an interpreted language must follow manual instructions given on that machine. This is an effective way of execution since the programmer knows what is happening and maintenance is simpler.

Compatibility and Language Support

PHP runs on all servers and platforms like Windows, UNIX, Linux and Apache whereas ASP.Net runs only on Windows servers. PHP follows the C++ language which is voted by all as the best ever programing language. ASP.Net support different platforms such as Visual Basic, C++ and C#. It can only be advantage when the programmer is comfortable using all languages. But statistics and reports show that the majority of the programmers still prefer using C++ as their core programming language.
